My new housemate Warren arrived yesterday. He’s South African, but has lived in Australia for the last five years. He’s just finished a degree in Design and is working for Nova part time before hopefully working for the WWF. While exploring the city today, he was asked by three different people if he was Brazillian. The Japanese don’t particularly like Brazillians as they associate them with the small amount of petty crime that does occur. The most important thing he has learned to say is “Minami Afrikajin desu”, which means “I’m South African”. People are much nicer to him after that!
